Spinal TapI’m not sure why “Won’t Do It Again”, turned out to be an 80’s hair metal song.  It was probably inevitable that it come out somehow; I listened to Bon Jovi and Cinderella—not to mention such long-forgotten groups as White Lion and Europe—in my teenage years.  The main riff of the song was written in July 2001 and was originally dubbed “8088”, thereby touching on both my computer nerddom and my adolescence.

The exclamation “Lord, have mercy” at the beginning of song is a favorite expression where I grew up, though it’s often rendered as “Lordy mercy”.  Sadly, the “exorcism” in the third verse was probably suggested by an incident in my teen years, when it was rumored a local family believed their son to be possessed by demons, when in fact he suffered from epilepsy.
