Happy Valentine’s Day!  Here’s a little of what’s going on in Chameleon Red land right now.Skeleton Crew Video Still

  • We got a good initial response the the “Skeleton Crew” video, including several Facebook shares.  That’s encouraging!  What?  You haven’t seen it yet?  Watch it now, before it’s too late!
  • We have hit #6 on the local rock charts on ReverbNation (though we’ve slipped back to #10 now).  Don’t know what that means, really, but it sounds cool.
  • We’re getting airplay on Jango radio.  Don’t know what that means, either, except that people from across the globe are listening to us.
  • We have signed on for a four-month radio promotion campaign, targeting independent and college radio stations across the U.S.
  • We have another live show scheduled for the near future.
  • The video for “Impatience” is in the works.
  • We’re starting to write some new material.

Whew!  Who knew we had that much energy?  Seriously, though, it’s exciting to see things happening.  Thanks to all who listen to and support us!

New Video: “Skeleton Crew”

Posted by on January 31st, 2014

We had a good time and great turnout at the album release show. Now we’re ready to present the second video and title song from Skeleton Crew.  It’s totally different from “Westwood”–a danceable, slightly menacing peon’s-eye-view of corporate culture.

“Skeleton Crew” CD Release Show!

Posted by on January 3rd, 2014

Skeleton CrewMark your calendars!  We are inaugurating the release of Skeleton Crew with a show at the Acoustic Coffeehouse in Johnson City, TN on January 24, 2014 at 8pm.  We’ll be stripping down to our bare acoustic instruments, playing unplugged versions of new songs from Skeleton Crew plus favorites from the previous album, Transposition.  And we’ll be selling copies, of course!  Come along, and bring your friends—heck, bring your enemies, too!

We are proud to present the first single and video from Skeleton Crew: “Westwood”.  This song literally came to me in a dream where Tom Petty was helping me write it.  We hope you enjoy it enough to share it with your friends!

Also, the pre-sale of Skeleton Crew begins on iTunes today.  If you order now you will get to download “Westwood” immediately, and the rest of the album will be automatically downloaded to your device when the album is officially released on January 17, 2014.

Advance praise for “Westwood”

Skeleton Crew“Westwood”, the first single from the Skeleton Crew album, will be released next week.  Meanwhile, here are some choice words about the song from anonymous reviewers on SlicethePie.com.

“What an AWESOME song! The intro brings a fun, Carlos Santana vibe with a Don McLean vocal style. This was super fun to listen to and I’m surprised it isn’t already on the radio! The singer really has a powerful and soulful voice and you can hear the energy spewing from his vocals in every verse. I can’t imagine anyone who wouldn’t enjoy listening to this.”

“This song made me want to dance, reminds me of [the] Traveling Wilburys or the Wallflowers, I could listen to this on repeat! I love the lyrics and the artists voice!! I grew up on this sounding music and this makes me want to turn it up and drive!”

“This is the kind of song that I would buy on iTunes, put it on my iPod, and keep it on repeat for a little while. From the opening percussion, I was hooked. This track has the kind of solid beat that would get stuck in my head for hours on end (speaking of which, it already is).”

“This song reminds me of Tom Petty. It could easily be on any of his albums. The guitar really shines through on the bridges and the piano creates a musical quality that one doesn’t hear everyday. The harmonies are tight and I appreciate the message here. This song is full of the elements a listener looks for and it has a good vibe.”

“Smoldering blues presented in a shambling country rock style in the tradition of desert songwriters like the Eagles. Vocals really do resemble that SoCal group and the road trip lyrics are appropriately cryptic. … Retro trip back to the halcyon era of rocking country with a lot of rock in it.”

“I love the guitar in the beginning. I can’t begin to describe how much I like this song. It has elements of Tom Petty, the Wallflowers, as well as a few other influences that I can’t think of.”

“I love the simplicity of this song…it rocks! Lyrics wise also so clever… good arrangement and very original… this song is something close to perfection to me… I have this feeling that this song will be a big hit…”

“The lyrics tell a story and I enjoyed the message. I can imagine listening to this song on a long drive, hair caressed by a warm summer breeze. Almost reminds me of something I would expect to be on a Beatles album.”

Look for the “Westwood” video next week!
